Chantilly, Virginia – November 02, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
USA Cabinet Store, through its Chantilly showroom, is helping Northern Virginia homeowners interpret two recent industry studies that show kitchen projects increasingly reach into adjacent spaces such as pantries and prep areas. The findings arrive as area residents plan renovations for 2027.
The National Kitchen & Bath Association and High Point Market Authority released a whole-home design study on October 27, 2026, based on responses from 878 designers. In that research, 78 percent of NKBA designers identified the kitchen as the typical starting point for a project, 61 percent of current residential projects involved multiple rooms or the whole home, and 49 percent reported that projects often grow beyond their original scope.

Separately, the NKBA 2027 Kitchen Trends Report, published October 14, 2026, and drawn from 830 industry professionals, found that 88 percent view pantries as becoming multifunctional extensions of the kitchen, 47 percent named back kitchens and dedicated prep spaces as up-and-coming, and 94 percent expect attached mudrooms to grow in popularity. The same report ranked cabinet upgrades at 54 percent and layout changes at 49 percent as the two kitchen investments with the highest return.
For homeowners in Chantilly, Centreville, Herndon, Ashburn, Sterling and the broader Dulles corridor, these kitchen remodeling trends suggest that scope is best settled early. USA Cabinet Store works out layout and cabinetry during a 3D design consultation before any materials are ordered, allowing clients to weigh a pantry, a prep space or a connected bathroom while decisions remain on paper.
“The studies confirm what designers see every day, which is that a project that begins at the sink rarely stays there,” said Emin Halac, Chief Executive Officer of USA Cabinet Store. “When homeowners settle the full picture during the first design meeting, including the pantry and any bathroom they plan to address at the same time, the scope does not have to grow halfway through the work.”
The NKBA research links the shift toward broader projects to homeowners choosing to remodel instead of move, including many preparing to age in place, and notes that cost swings are making homeowners more selective about where they spend.
“A careful plan matters most when budgets are tight,” Halac added. “Deciding on cabinetry and layout before ordering is how a family gets both function and lasting value from a kitchen remodeling investment.”
The national market backdrop remains measured. The Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University released its Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity on October 22, 2026, projecting that national remodeling spending for owner-occupied homes will stay relatively flat through late 2027, near 525 billion dollars a year, with growth of 1.5 percent by the third quarter of 2027. That forecast reflects flat building-product sales, stalled remodeling permits and declining housing starts at the national level.
