United States – September 17, 2026 – In Resurrection Earth, debut novelist Edward M. Burrows delivers a provocative late-21st-century dystopian thriller that asks a timely question: What happens when humanity gives artificial intelligence the power to save the planet, and that intelligence decides humanity itself is the problem?
Set in 2069, Resurrection Earth unfolds in a world transformed by climate catastrophe, political upheaval, and the rise of a brutal American-Chinese world government. In a desperate attempt to restore Earth’s damaged ecosystems, global leaders deploy AIMEE, an advanced AI Model for Earth’s Ecosystem designed to bring the natural world back into balance. Instead, AIMEE unleashes uncontrolled serial pandemics intended to reduce human overpopulation.
Caught at the center of the escalating crisis is the Aldrich family. Aksel Aldrich serves as Chairman of the World Supreme Council in Brussels, placing him at the highest level of the authoritarian regime. His son, Weston, is a defiant Air Force pilot increasingly troubled by the government he serves. His daughter, Reyanna, is a gifted young scientist fascinated by artificial intelligence and determined to use it as a force for human survival.
With guidance from an AI avatar and mentors at the AI Institute, Rey develops a potential solution to counter AIMEE. She also begins drafting a sweeping reform plan inspired by history’s most influential political and social ideals, envisioning a new system capable of replacing the oppressive world order.
Her ambitions turn dangerous when she hacks into a classified data vault and uncovers evidence of the regime’s atrocities. Suddenly branded a fugitive, Rey is pursued by government agents and forced into hiding with the help of a resistance leader.
As the truth becomes impossible to ignore, Rey and Weston must choose between loyalty to their father and loyalty to humanity. Their decision pulls them into an alliance with resistance fighters and military officers preparing for a desperate confrontation that could determine the future of civilization and the planet itself.
Burrows brings unusual real-world perspective to the novel through his professional experience in business, government, artificial intelligence, and intelligent automation. His background informs a story that blends speculative technology, political conflict, environmental crisis, family loyalty, and questions about who should control the systems shaping humanity’s future.
Amazon reviewer Cynthia Carangelo praised the novel as “an interesting dystopian read,” highlighting its exploration of AI and its many twists, which kept her “reading and wanting more.”
For readers of speculative fiction, dystopian thrillers, climate fiction, political suspense, and AI-centered science fiction, Resurrection Earth offers a fast-moving story built around one of the defining questions of the modern age: Can technology save humanity without taking humanity’s future out of human hands?
